Meet Rene Slim, one of our international professional facilitators/trainers for this year’s GAICAM Annual Leadership & Entrepreneurial Fellowship.
Rene Slim, is a social activist and an engaged Young Congolese Civic leader; Education Professional; passionate about Youth’s Education and Volunteerism, He’s serving his community through non-governmental organizations, community based organizations where he’s currently volunteering as the Country Coordinator /Representative of the YOUTH ADVOCACY COUNCIL to unable Youth for Social Development and Economic Empowerment and Strengthening Youth for Change. Besides, Slim is the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) Facilitator at the American Corner here he’s volunteering, trains and helps young people to accede to the virtual learning and empowers them with leadership skills. Being a YALI alumnus and active member of the Community Service Day a program launched by Amity Congo USA (AMICUS /NGO) an Organization of the American Exchange Program Alumni; Slim and team are working under the sponsorship of the American Embassy in the DRC to develop and expand the spirit of volunteerism across the D.R.Congo since they believe in youths as a catalyst for change and societal transformation for sustainable socio-economic development and peace. These activities and responsibilities have enabled him to become a subject matter expert within his community and build self-awareness and inspiring young people to understand/engage with social issues so that they can initiate and lead citizenship action and bring about social change, promoting personal growth, confidence, empathy, tolerance and hope. In his current role as a Volunteer He’s highly engaged and committed to encouraging civic education and peace, helping support the needy people (families faced by war, gender based violence…);Schools, sharing and giving back the knowledge in order to strengthen his community .
